Overview

When clients (or former clients) turn on their lawyers, those lawyers frequently turn to Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom L.L.P. Several of our lawyers have more than a decade of experience in defending lawyers and law firms from allegations of professional malpractice or other acts of malfeasance. We have represented lawyers and law firms in a wide variety of cases in jurisdictions across Texas arising out of disputes concerning the statute of limitations, alleged conflicts of interests, the retention and use of experts, sanctions, trial results, appellate results and other allegations of inappropriate professional conduct.

One of the highest compliments of our expertise in this area is the fact that several of our lawyers are regularly retained to serve as expert witnesses on matters of professional ethics for lawyers and the professional standards of care governing a trial lawyer’s conduct. Founding partners Christopher Martin and Dale Jefferson are regarded by their peers as experts in both legal ethics and legal professionalism standards. As such, they are regularly retained for their expertise as expert witnesses in professional liability claims.

Moreover, Mr. Jefferson is regularly asked to speak on the subjects of legal malpractice, fiduciary litigation and related trial topics.  Mr. Jefferson has spoken at a variety of State Bar of Texas programs including the Advanced Evidence and Discovery Seminar, the Advanced Personal Injury Seminar and the Fiduciary Litigation Course.  In 2016, Mr. Jefferson was selected to be the course director of the program.  Mr. Jefferson has also spoken on these topics at various law school sponsored CLE programs and for the Texas College of Judicial Studies.
