State and Federal Appeals and Original Proceedings
Our appellate section, headed by Levon Hovnatanian, brings a history of success and a wealth of skills to every appellate project. MDJW appellate lawyers assist trial counsel by preserving error, preparing and arguing the jury charge, and preparing and responding to post-verdict motions. They handle petitions for writs of mandamus, interlocutory appeals, and appeals from final judgments. They write and respond to petitions for review and submit amicus curiae briefs. Our appellate lawyers advocate in state and federal courts all over the country, from the Ninth Circuit on the west coast to the Supreme Court of Florida on the east with numerous stops in between. No matter what the project, no matter what the venue, our appellate section brings to bear the twin virtues of vigilance and persuasion on behalf of the firm’s clients.
Civil Litigation
The MDJW appellate team works with trial lawyers in civil lawsuits to provide critical services necessary to posture a case for appeal such as preparing and arguing jury charge submissions, motions for summary judgment, motions for directed verdict, motions for new trial, and JNOV motions. The appellate team also handles mandamus actions arising out of unreasonable discovery orders, disqualifications, and other trial court decisions needing immediate attention by an appellate court.
