Overview

Our appellate section, led by Levon Hovnatanian who is Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, has extensive experience in representing our clients in State and Federal appeals involving a wide variety of first and third party insurance disputes. He and his team regularly provide the following services for our clients:

Appellate Representation
Our appellate team regularly handles all types of appeals in the State and Federal courts of Texas including the filing of amicus curiae briefs which our clients ask us to file in other litigation in which they have an interest. We regularly represent carriers in appeals arising out of coverage and bad faith lawsuits. We are also regularly asked to represent insureds on appeal when they are being defended by their liability carriers under liability policies.

Error Preservation and Motion Practice
Our appellate team is frequently retained before or during a trial to help draft dispositive motions, assist with drafting motions in limine, and work with trial counsel to preserve all necessary error for appeal.

Post-Verdict Work
Following a verdict, our appellate specialists regularly assist in preparing and filing the necessary legal motions to attempt to persuade a trial court to change a jury verdict or to preserve the necessary legal issues for appeal.

Mandamus
We are regularly retained to obtain emergency relief for our clients from discovery orders, orders denying severance and abatement, or other related issues needing interlocutory relief.
