Allison Ballentine
Ms. Ballentine is an associate who practices in the areas of civil and commercial litigation. Prior to joining Martin, Disiere, Jefferson & Wisdom, Ms. Ballentine worked for a regional firm where her practice areas included international insurance defense and coverage, subrogation, claims arising under the Texas Workers’ Compensation Act, and non-subscriber claims.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Ballentine worked as a registered nurse in a large nephrology practice in Austin, Texas. Her practice comprised the care and treatment of patients with kidney diseases, high blood pressure, kidney transplants, and fluid and electrolyte abnormalities. Additionally, Ms. Ballentine assisted her patients in navigating the complex laws and regulations with respect to the management of healthcare for chronic diseases, which led to her interest in the convergence of healthcare and the law.
During law school, Ms. Ballentine helped initiate a medical-legal partnership in New Orleans between a community-based health ministry and Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, an organization that provides free civil legal aid to low-income people. Additionally, Ms. Ballentine competed in and coached various intraschool and interschool moot court competitions, including the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition, and was a member of Tulane’s Moot Court Board.
