MDJW First Friday Webinar - Rule 167: Offers in Compromise or Building a Defendable Claim

We’re back!  The February First Friday webinar will be held on February 6, 2015 at noon Central time.  Barrie Beer, a partner in the Houston office will present Rule 167 – Offers in Compromise or Building a Defendable Claim File. 

In the course of a lawsuit, insurers and their attorneys depend on each other to manage a given case in order to reach the best conclusion for all parties.  This is demonstrated especially well when a party makes a well analyzed and accurate offer to settle the litigation before trial.  The insurer expects the attorney to accurately and fairly evaluate all elements of the case and calculate an equitable and fair settlement offer.  The attorney needs the insurer and adjusters to have also properly, correctly, and thoroughly documented all aspects of the claim at issue in order to make that evaluation. 

Ms. Beer’s legal expertise spans the spectrum of first- and third-party insurance coverage, duties of insurance carriers, policyholders, and agents, and good faith claim handling, compliance, and management. She has specialized in first-party contractual and extra-contractual litigation, analysis and evaluation of coverage for auto, property, and third-party claims, preparation of expert witnesses and adjusters for testimony, liability and damage assessment, managing compliance with the common law and statutory duties to insureds and claimants, and evaluation and consultation of good faith claim investigation. She also has extensive experience in the investigation and defense of insurance fraud, arson, foundation, mold, and residential and commercial property damage claims.

We have received approval for one hour of Texas CE credit from the Texas Department of Insurance.  Insurance professionals accredited by the Texas Department of Insurance should have their license number available during the training in order to request credit for the course.
