MDJW First Friday Webinar - Update on Handling Suspicious Fire Claims
Michael Watson - presenter
Our next First Friday will be held on June 6, 2014 at noon Central Time. Michael Watson, a partner in MDJW’s Dallas office, will present “Update on Handling Suspicious Fire Claims.” This course provides an overview of tools and insights to enable the diligent adjuster to recognize suspicious claims and identify those that are fraudulent. It examines the nature of insurance fraud, reviews the process of handling property claims, presents some of the basic principles involved in investigating property claims and describes the suspicions that may be raised when following the claims process and investigating property claims and those that may point to arson and arson fires.
Mr. Watson is an insurance coverage litigator with more than 15 years of experience assisting insurers in all aspects of handling disputed, questioned or fraudulent insurance claims. He regularly litigates insurance disputes in Texas state and federal courts and advises insurance carriers on a range of coverage issues arising from commercial primary and excess liability claims, commercial property claims, personal lines claims and specialty lines claims.
In addition, Mr. Watson has substantial experience defending agents in E&O matters arising from the placement of policies and in defending third-party wrongful death, remises liability, construction defect and other negligence claims.
