The Houston Young
Lawyers Association awarded MDJW associate
Diana Perez this very prestigious award in
recognition of her outstanding commitment to her practice, her
service to the bar and her service to the community. It is an
incredible honor for Diana to have received this Award, and to
have won it as a first-time nominee is a rare accomplishment.
Diana’s bar services have included serving or volunteering for
close to a dozen Houston Bar Association committees and
functions including the Will-a-Thon, Legal Lines, Consejos
Legales (Spanish Legal Lines) and the IDEA program (which
discusses the legal effects of drugs with young children). She
served on the Board of Trustees for the Houston Bar Association
HLRS (Houston Lawyer Referral Services) and Committee for
Administration of Justice. She is presently the Vice President
of the Hispanic Bar Association; and she is sitting as a
committee member for the University of Texas School of Law. In
addition to bar related activities, Diana’s community services
include serving on her church’s Pastoral Council as a legal
advisor and counselor. She has also assisted with numerous
community volunteer organizations including State Representative
Ana Hernandez’ Citizen’ Workshop and Landrum Middle School’s
Passport to College Program.
Diana is now in a
league of distinction which includes prior winners such as U.S.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, Fifth Circuit Judge Jennifer
Elrod, Former Chief Justice of the Texas Supreme Court Thomas
Phillips, Former State Bar President Kelly Frels, and many other
attorneys who have set a standard of excellence. Her long list
of community service and her volunteering of her time to benefit
the bar continually serve as a brilliant example of what all
lawyers should strive for. The entire MDJW family congratulates
Diana on this great honor in recognition of her commitments to
her community and to her work.
